VOID Magazine’s Release Party This Friday

Have you seen VOID magazine?

It’s pretty much everywhere here at the beach, free to the public.  We’re longtime magazine lovers so when this new print magazine focussing on North Florida’s surf and skate culture premiered a year ago, it definitely caught our eye.

A lot of our favorite magazines have disappeared  these past few years, so we were pulling for its success; particularly because they’re a local start-up covering some of our favorite things here at the beach.  You don’t have to be a surfer or skater to appreciate VOID.  It will keep you current on what’s happening in that culture, though, and since the beaches are a strong community of surfers of all ages, it’s nice to know what’s going on there, don’t you think? You never know when you’ll see someone familiar in VOID.  Jake McGuire, the son of MOS owner Lourdes McGuire, was on the cover of the August issue.  MOS is one our favorite home/garden shops at the beach! There’s also music, and art stuff inside VOID, too.

This monthly magazine just released its 13th issue, and it appears they’ve established a strong following.   We pick up a copy or two each month.  Our teenage son and his friends have been known to snatch ours, so we’ve had to go in search of second copy some months.  It’s not  hard to find; many  beaches establishments carry VOID; keep your eyes on the places likely to distribute complimentary magazines.  We love reading about  the surf, skate, and music scene at the beach.   We enjoy the photography, and seeing people at the beaches who are pursuing their passions – a topic that always gets our attention.

Every month VOID hosts a release party to celebrate the current issue, and this month it’s at Hero’s 19th Hole,     at Jax Beach’s Golf Course Clubhouse.

A new, local band called  Sound Swell will be playing from 10pm – 2am.  We can’t wait to check it out.

Come on out and join the fun.  We looked at the pictures on VOID’s website of their other parties, and let’s just say they know how to celebrate!  This will be our first VOID party, so we’ll let you know about this new band, and how the people of VOID like to party.

November’s issue is out now.  It’s the ‘green’ issue.    We can’t wait to get our hands on it.
