Players By The Sea to Put On Pulitzer Prize Winning Musical

Following a successful Broadway and touring run, Players By The Sea will be producing a version of the musical Next to Normal this month and next, across the Intracoastal at the FSCJ  Nathan H. Wilson Center for the Arts.

Next to Normal is the story of Diana, a mother who struggles with worsening bipolar disorder and the effect that her illness has on her family. The musical also addresses such issues as grieving a loss, suicide, drug abuse, ethics in modern psychiatry, and suburban life.

The show was a critical success on Broadway; it was one of only eight musicals to win the Pulitzer Prize. Actress Alice Ripley, who originated the role of Diana on Broadway and in the touring company, also won a Tony Award for her portrayal of the bipolar mother. The show also garnered Tony Awards for best orchestration and best original score.

The show runs on a number of days between January 26 and February 5. To get more information, and to purchase tickets, visit the Players By The Sea website.
